Tire Shopping? Make Sure You’re Not Buying a Brand New Hazard

Safe Tires?Shopping for tires should be a simple and relatively painless process.  Unfortunately, for many tire shoppers, they may be unknowingly buying a driving hazard.  Tires are made of rubber and composite materials that break down over time.  This means that they have a life expectancy outside of normal tread life. It’s likely that your tire retail center, especially the national chains, won’t discuss this with you, but it can be deadly. The link below is to a 20/20 news story discussing this matter. Purchasing tires directly from a tire distributor like Tire Rack who will drop ship to a recommended tire installer in your area is one way to make sure that you’re getting the newest tires possible. This is how I purchase my tires and Tire Rack makes it a simple process, as long as you plan a few days ahead.

In short, make sure that when you shop for tires you check the manufacture date.  Now that you’ve watched that video it should be simple for you to find.  In no way should you buy tires that are older than a year or two.  An informed consumer is a good consumer, especially when it comes to the safety of your family.  Remember, tread life is different than tire life.  Let the retailer know this when you’re shopping for tires and you and your family will be much safer as a result.

Ok mr talkbuys i have one for you…..Im an at home recording artist in need of an audio interface that will allow me to run my mixer Roland vs 1824cd into my mac…. i want the best value, something thats gonna get me good sound and easy user friendly hardware installs, but i want the best deal aswell……go git it

    Lucas Lee,

This is a tough question that took us a couple of days to research for you.  Luckily we were able to connect with a former district sales manager from Roland who put us in touch with the right people, including the VS 1824 experts at Roland.

There are several digital interface products that you can purchase can which will allow you to use the features of your VS-1824CD and simply integrate them into your Mac.  Some are manufactured by Roland and use the Roland Edirol brand.  Others are by companies in the music products industry outside of Roland.  These products have a wide price range and offer many unique features not found on your VS-1824CD.  It appears that the most popular way to integrate the two is to use the Roland as what is called a “surface controller”.  Based on what we were told, your Roland VS will be great for initial effects and for sending the right digital signal through the digital I/O to the audio interface which will ultimately connect to the Mac through firewire.  If you haven’t already, you can enroll for additional support through Roland Backstage and through the RolandVS users group at VSplanet.com.  Anyway, the answer to what you should buy is a Presonus Firebox or an Edirol

Round Trip Air Fare from Las Vegas to Atlanta – Need the Best Fare

Howdy!!! I need 2 tickets round trip to Atlanta,GA from Las Vegas, NV. Date of Departure is 1/16/10 and arrival back in Vegas on 1/23/10. My best price so far is (Drum roll) $99.00 (((Just kidding—LOL))) Actually, my best price so far is $555.00
Please beat this, Mr. Talk Buy Wizard, please!!! Thanks.

    Joe,

Thanks for the question on air fare and finding discounts on air travel.  After a comprehensive search of the best air fares available from Las Vegas to Atlanta here’s what we’ve come up.

First, this purchase does not qualify for a 7 day advance purchase.  While advance purchases are less important than they were 5 or even 10 years ago, the airlines still want to sell out as much as possible of each flight, and they want to sell those tickets as far in advance as is reasonable, so they still offer better discounts for airfare purchases made more than 7 days in advance.  Occasionally we can find a last second deal (More …)

Yamaha Keyboard Foot pedal and Stand – I need to get my daughter a foot pedal …

I need to get my daughter a foot pedal and stand for her Yamaha keyboard. The pedal she needs is an FC5 sustain pedal. She has a Yamaha PSR-275/273 keyboard. Any ideas?

    Yamaha FC5 Footswitch Pedalspeed,

Congratulations on having music in your home.  I was in the music products industry for many years, so I’m happy to help you come up with a good solution and the best place to purchase these accessories for your Yamaha PSR-275/273 model keyboard.  Let’s focus first on the keyboard pedal, and second on the stand.

The FC5 keyboard footswitch pedal is an on/off switching mechanism that allows for the user to control several functions on Yamaha keyboards, drum machines, recording equipment, and more.  One of the functions you can control on the keyboard is sustain.  In addition to sustain, many keyboard models allow you to use multiple pedals to (More …)
